Draw in the program you know, get the quantities in Constructio

Every program that exports IFC works with Constructio. Our extensions go one step further: inside the program you draw in, they give each part its type, material and name, list what cannot be measured yet and show the quantities before you export.

S

SketchUp

Trimble

Available

Types, materials and names inside SketchUp, an Outliner-style check list, quick take-off and IFC export.

A

Archicad

Graphisoft

Coming later

Check list before export (unclassified elements, missing materials, zones), quick take-off and one-click IFC export with the right settings.

Today: Archicad exports good IFC on its own: File → Save as → IFC (IFC 2x3 or IFC4), with zones as rooms.

R

Revit

Autodesk

Coming later

Check list before export, quick take-off and an IFC export preset tuned for Constructio, in the Add-Ins tab.

Today: Revit exports good IFC on its own: File → Export → IFC (IFC 2x3 or IFC4 Reference View), with rooms and base quantities.

R

Rhino

Robert McNeel & Associates

Coming later

Rhino has no IFC export of its own. The extension will classify objects as walls, slabs, windows and rooms, check them, show a quick take-off and write the IFC file itself.

Today: Rhino does not export IFC by itself; the paid VisualARQ add-on does.

B

Blender + Bonsai

Blender Foundation · IfcOpenShell

Coming later

Bonsai already models in IFC. The extension will add the check list for Constructio, a quick take-off and sending the model to your project.

Today: With the free Bonsai add-on the model is IFC already: save the .ifc file.

V

Vectorworks, Allplan, BricsCAD, FreeCAD

and other BIM programs

Via export

These programs export good IFC with walls, slabs, openings and storeys; no extension is needed to get the quantities.

Today: Export IFC 2x3 or IFC4 and upload it on the “Quantities from IFC” page.

A

AutoCAD

Autodesk

Via export

2D plans: upload a DXF drawing on the 3D model page and the walls rise into 3D. For quantities, a BIM model (IFC) gives far better results.

Today: Save as DXF and upload it on the 3D model page; AutoCAD Architecture can also export IFC.

Any program, through IFC

No extension for your program yet? Export IFC

IFC is the open exchange format of building models; Revit, Archicad, SketchUp Pro, Vectorworks, Allplan, BricsCAD, Blender (Bonsai), FreeCAD and many others export it. Upload the file on your project's “Quantities from IFC” page and the walls, slabs, columns, windows, doors and rooms are measured.

For good quantities

  • Use the program's own wall, slab, column, window and door tools, so each part is exported with its IFC type
  • Give walls a material (aerated concrete, brick, concrete) and mark exterior walls
  • Model rooms (spaces) with their finish in the name to get floor, plaster and tile areas room by room
  • Export IFC 2x3 or IFC4 with storeys; the page lists anything it could not recognise
Frequently asked

Questions

IFC carries what the model knows. Many models — especially SketchUp ones — have no types, materials or exterior/interior information, so parts are missed or measured wrongly. The extension fixes this where you draw, and shows the quantities before you export.
Yes, the extensions are free. A free Constructio account is needed to upload the IFC file and get the cost.
If it exports IFC, it already works. Write to us through the support page which program you use — we decide the order of new extensions by demand.
